What goes in the can

Batched still cocktails. Mocktails and zero-proof. Still sangria and wine spritzes. Cold brew martini bases.

The details for cocktail bars

Where the license allows sealed to-go drinks, bars use a countertop seamer to can batched still cocktails and the zero-proof menu. The clear can shows off the color, and the seal closes every drink until the guest opens it.

  • To-go where it's legal

In states and cities that permit sealed to-go cocktails, a seamed can is a sealed, tamper-evident container. It cannot be opened and reclosed without it showing.

  • Events and private bookings

Seal the batch before the event, ice it, and pour nothing on the night. Every guest gets the same drink, and every can stays closed until opened.

  • Zero-proof sells anywhere

Mocktails and NA drinks need no alcohol license to sell sealed. They are the easiest place to start and they look great in a clear can.

Questions

Can bars sell canned cocktails to go?

It depends on your state and local rules. Many places allow sealed to-go cocktails from licensed bars and restaurants, and some do not. Confirm with your compliance contact or state alcohol authority before selling. Zero-proof drinks are not restricted the same way.

Can I can carbonated cocktails?

Not in today's clear cans, which are for still drinks. Stirred and shaken still builds work; spritzes and highballs wait for the carbonation-ready cans coming to the lineup.

How long do batched cocktails last in a sealed can?

Treat them like any fresh batch: refrigerate and date them. Spirit-forward stirred drinks hold up well cold; anything with fresh juice or dairy should be sold within a few days.

Can I use the seamer for events?

Yes. Bars seal batches ahead of private events and festivals, ice the cans in tubs, and skip the pour station entirely, within whatever their event permits allow.
